Unfortunately, it did go northward, causing severe damage in north Florida and the Southeast U. I developed a true interest in tropical weather forecasting while in Florida. We were offered roles at WeatherNation, a national digital network, where I was able to forecast weather across America and around the Caribbean.

Truly a challenge, and professional growth opportunity that I am grateful to have had. Enduring multiple-day coverage of hurricane landfalls including Harvey, Irma, Maria, Florence, Michael, Dorian, and others ; severe tornado outbreaks; snow and ice storms; volcanic eruptions; extreme flooding and drought impacts; plus whatever else Mother Nature had up her sleeve, was a challenge to say the least.

After three years of the most intense weather coverage and team-leading efforts, I decided the storm needed to calm down. In , I made a big move, transitioning away from the world of broadcast television and accepted a new role as a communications strategist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory NREL. NREL is an incredible lab, where cutting edge research is being done in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

I felt excited to be part of this team and eager to expand my communication skills.
