Actress, Samaire Rhys Armstrong was born to a Scottish father Hunter Armstrong, who teaches soldiers close combat training, and an Italian mother, Sylvia Sepielli, who designs spas for resorts on October 31, in Tokyo, Japan. She spent part of her early years in Japan where she lived for five years before moving to Hawaii.

Samaire has also lived in other Asian countries such as Malaysia and China. In high school, she played volleyball for two years and was MVP before focusing on acting and was cast in nearly every production at her school. After graduating from high school, SamaireArmstrong enrolled at the University of Arizona to major in costume design and acting, but left after a year.

She attended college with actress Heather Blair and basketball player Luke Walton. His first name, Samaire which is pronounced Sah-mee-rah is a Gaelic name which means rising sun.
